A vegan candy company with a big dream:
make the world a better place through caramel.
Hello there! My name is Melissa Clements, and I am the owner/confectioner/bookkeeper/dishwasher behind Amethyst Confectionery. I find joy and purpose in crafting delicious vegan candy for others to enjoy, but that’s not where I started. Before Amethyst, I worked in public and non-profit housing. The experiences I had there led me to wish for a more direct way to make an impact on a critical issue impacting many Americans: homelessness. There is an alarming lack of funding for housing programs that work to alleviate the issues that cause homelessness, including cost of housing, health and disability, employment and income, and the criminalization of homelessness.
Amethyst will donate 10% of profits from product sales to the National Coalition for the Homeless. Their mission is to prevent and end homelessness while ensuring the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness are met and their civil rights protected. If you’re interested in learning more, you can read about NCH’s programs here: http://www.nationalhomeless.org/
Donations will be made on a quarterly basis. Amethyst Confectionery operates transparently, and all donation amounts will be disclosed when they are made. Our long-term goal is to substantially support NCH and other organizations that administer programs supporting the homeless.
